Paris, 11thSept 2023–This year’s European Mobility Week sheds light on the topic of “saving energy”. A theme that is at the core not only of politicians’ decisions but also of the services of Free2move. As a global mobility brand Free2Move is offering a complete and unique ecosystem for private and professional customers around the world with a unique business model. The brand is disrupting global mobility, empowering people with innovative ways to access vehicles (rent by minute, day, month) through a single app, creating a seamless customer experience and easing the environmental impact and long-term commitment car ownership entails. This shows that all citizens may be able to do their part to reduce dependence on private cars and thus save energy and reduce their carbon footprint.
Sustainable urban mobility can help address the challenges by reducing our dependence on private cars and shifting to more energy-efficient modes of transportation. Free2move is revolutionizing the mobility market with solutions that make the switch to electric vehicles easier and more affordable, while reducing the need to own a car.
The mobility provider is, therefore, actively helping the world meet the EV transition targets put forth by the automobile industry. Not everyone interested in supporting the energy transition is able to purchase an EV quickly and easily. By introducing EVs into their fleets, customers can participate in this transition by testing the vehicles before purchase or by integrating these vehicles into their transportation portfolio. Free2move is further advancing this by mapping out charging stations to make EV charging reliable and easy.
Free2move is a strategic part of the Stellantis Dare Forward strategy that Carlos Tavares outlined. As part of Stellantis Group, the brand aims to meet 2040 100 % of Low Emission Vehicles below 50g CO2 per kilometer in its fleet; first steps are 40% in 2025 and 60% in 2030. On top of that, another goal is to generate 40% of the mobility revenues with low-emission vehicles by 2030 – and 80% by 2038.
"We see the world changing, and demand for flexibility has never been higher. We meet our customer's diverse mobility needs by supporting freedom of movement with affordable and sustainable mobility solutions. This makes us successful. "Save energy" is not just a topic for us at European Mobility Week but is the focus of our ambitions. In our mobility ecosystem, we cover the entire spectrum, from car-sharing to car rental to subscription; our customer insights show that the rent and car-sharing activities have been very dynamic this summer.”says Brigitte Courtehoux,CEO of Free2move.
As part of its mission to make EVs more accessible, Free2move envisions the Fiat 500e as the new flagship offering for its free-floating and subscription car services across the U.S. and Europe. The 2007 relaunch of the Fiat 500 had been a success, but by the end of the 2010s, manufacturers were starting to look towards the future. The all-electric Fiat 500 was unveiled in March 2020 in Milan. Powered by an 87 kW (116 hp) electric motor and fed by a 42 kWh lithium-ion battery, the new generation of 500s would aim to retain the design of the much-loved original and bring it into the era of electric automobiles. With the 3+1 door configuration variant, even the famous ‘suicide doors’ have reappeared, and the legacy of the Fiat 500 looks set to live on for some years.
